About Us

The name "Behind the Vines" originates from the critical state of the rainforest's hardwood tree species, which have been overexploited and are now critically endangered. These trees, vital to the ecosystem, do not reproduce easily and take hundreds of years to grow to the immense sizes found in our biological reserve. Hardwood trees are especially important because they can withstand the harshly wet environment of the rainforest and support the thick vines that cover them without toppling over. The name reflects our commitment to protecting and conserving these majestic giants, which play a crucial role in maintaining the structural integrity and biodiversity of the rainforest. By preserving these trees, we aim to ensure the survival of countless other species that depend on them for habitat and resources.
